100 Strangers : Stranger No 18

Meet my stranger no 18 Sachirani Vaishnabi. She is the first wanderer of my strangers project. Met her at Sati Mar Dol Mela in Kalyani, West Bengal.

She was sitting in the corner of the temple. I saw her holding those musical instruments and playing them frequently. It was crowdy inside the temple and it was harder than you can think to talk to someone and ask for a photo. I went to my stranger no 18 and asked her name, she looked at me and stopped playing her instrument. Well of course she was not expecting some stranger will come and ask for her photo. But in a few moments she was able to manage the situation and posed for my camera.

I was using 50mm 1.8G lens. Now here is a tip, if you want really nice bokeh in your photo, this lens certainly one of the best. Keeping in mind the background is very important for the portrait photo like this. Try to get your subject with better background, surely it will make your photo better. Even 35mm 1.8G is also good choice where you can get to include more in your frame.

For this project now I have started typing the details in my Nexus 4, which actually became handy while taking street portraits for my project. She said she is attending “Sati Mar Dol Mela” fair for last 40 years. She does not have any permanent home and she likes it that way. She wants to dedicate rest of her life for the God she believes in. Not only this fair, she likes to attend various religious events and for that she travels a lot.

Wow. Isn’t this great ? I mean you can travel various places, meet new people, have delicious local food just to tell people about your God. May be she found the travel bug inside her for whatever reason.

I know things are getting slow here in this blog. Facing some connectivity issues also at home. So how are you doing? Is this project getting boring or am I missing something ? What do you feel ? Please share your thoughts so that I can make this project better. Keep watching.
