100 Strangers : Stranger No 19

The best thing and also the worst things about 100 strangers project is to find the strangers. As the matter of the fact not just everyone can be showcased in this project. I have mentioned before that the person must have some unique features.

Either he/she has to very good-looking or have to be very cute :P. Just kidding.

It didn’t take me long to find my stranger no 19, Bhabani while browsing the streets of Kolkata, last year, in the chilly winter morning. I found him near Howrah bridge, just beside Ganges river. By profession he is a truck driver and even though he is basically from state of Bihar. He is living in Kolkata more than 20 years. His family is in Kolkata but most of the time he travels all over the India to transport various goods.

Yes. He is a traveler, like any of us. But unlike me it’s his profession. He has visited almost all the north-west-eastern states in India. He said at first it was not that fun. He had to choose this job against his will as there were nobody to feed his family. But slowly he has started liking it. He has also mentioned that sometimes it’s monotonous like hell, but that’s alright with him as it’s only source to feed his family.

The photo has been taken using Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens. I must say this is an amazing lens for capturing street portraits. Take a look at the background blur, very soothing for eyes. Did you noticed his mustache and his hair style? Well for the people who don’t know, this is a typical Bihari look. They generally carry small hair as it’s pretty hot out there, though I am not sure of the mustache. But I noticed that a lot of people carries similar mustache in Bihar. With his stylish mustache, hair style and his cute giggle is surely a complete package to be the stranger officially.

So what is it you liked about him ? Is it his mustache or his dedication as traveler ? Hope you are doing great. Have a nice day.

Before I have even started reading this post, I noticed his devilish smile. For me, he looks like a happy person who enjoys EVERYTHING what life offers, specially while traveling. He also seem to care a lot about accessorize, look at that neckless and shirt and scarf, he didn’t forget a thing! I can understand your “special features”.. haha
