100 Strangers : Stranger No. 8

Shahdev is my Stranger No 8 and he works as a transporter in Barabazar, Kolkata. He has his own truck for the transportation of the goods. I found his face to be very unique with beard and mustache (Both at the same time, though this is not that uncommon in India). The mustache is typical North Indian style.

This street portrait has been captured using Nikon 50mm 1.8G lens. I asked his name couple of time in order to understand it correctly, and its also similar to the name of a popular character from Indian mythology, Ramayana. Now-a-days for this project I have started to note down the names and details of the stranger on the spot itself using my smart phone, well it actually came handy this time. The light was nice and hence I thought of converting it into a black and white image. The results came out really nice and may be from now on I will consider the portraits in black n white before posting.

It’s almost 8 months and I am still at struggling Stranger 8. Oops !!! I have to speed up for this project. This is my last post before Christmas. So Merry Christmas to all of you and your family. I will try to post another stranger before the end of the year, but before that let’s discuss about this photo, it can be Shahdev’s mustache or the black and white street portrait whatever you feel like. :)
